Everything you need to know about tracking Master Bills of Lading

What is a Master Bill of Lading (MBL)?

A Master Bill of Lading is the main contract of carriage issued by an ocean carrier / NVOCC. It lists the shipper, consignee, vessel, voyage and every container in the shipment, and customs requires it before cargo can be released.

How do I track a Master Bill of Lading online with TrackCargo?

Enter the MBL number—typically a four-letter carrier prefix (e.g.  MAEU , MSCU , CMDU ) followed by 8–12 digits—into the search bar and press Track . The dashboard shows the latest carrier events, current status and the carrier-provided arrival date.

How often is your MBL-tracking data refreshed?

Carrier data refreshes on regular update cycles, so new milestones such as Loaded on Vessel , Discharged or Gate-Out appear as soon as posted by the carrier.

Which carriers can I track?

TrackCargo supports 20+ VOCC and NVOCC prefixes, including Maersk , MSC , COSCO , Hapag-Lloyd , ZIM and many regional lines. We add new carriers each month.

How many MBLs can I track on the trial plan?

Where available, carrier-provided ETAs update as your shipment progresses.

Can I use notifications for MBL updates?
